HURRY to claim from the $115 million Katz privacy settlement – but you need to fulfill two conditions to get money.

This cash opportunity comes after Oracle , a cloud applications provider, agreed to a payout to resolve the lawsuit.

The $115 million settlement resolves claims that the company illegally collected personal information from the internet and sold it to third parties for advertising.

The lawsuit claims that Oracle tracked web activity, in-store purchases, geolocation, and other personal information without consumer consent.

It allegedly sold this information to third parties for advertising use.

Oracle is one of the biggest tech companies in the United States but flies fairly under the radar.

Banks use Oracle software to manage databases of their customers and their transactions.

Hospitals use the tech giant too to store patient records, as do retail businesses for their inventory and sales.

Oracle partners with companies such as Uber , AMC, and MGM Resorts.

The settlement benefits individuals whose personal information was collected by Oracle.

It also benefits those whose personal information was made available through ID Graph, Data Marketplace, or another Oracle advertising product since August 19, 2018.

The company hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to the multi-million dollar settlement to resolve the data privacy lawsuit.

Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive an equal share of the net settlement fund.

The exact payment amount, however, will vary depending on the number of claims filed and the fees deducted.

Oracle agreed not to capture user-generated information from referrer websites or forms on its own website.

The company will also implement an audit program to review its privacy obligations.

You’re eligible for payment if your personal data was “acquired, captured, or otherwise collected by Oracle Advertising technologies or made available for use or sale by or through ID Graph, Data Marketplace, or any other Oracle Advertising product or service.”

You also need to have lived in the US for a while since August 19, 2018.

Some of those affected have reportedly already been notified by email with a notice ID and confirmation code – but these aren’t necessarily needed to file a claim.

You just need to fill out a form with your name, address and contact information and then if your claim is validated, a payment can be received.

But hurry – the deadline is October 17, 2024.

    What's a class-action settlement?

Class action lawsuits offer groups of people, or 'classes,' a way to band together in court.

These suits are often brought by one or a few people who allege a company or other entity has wronged a large group of people.

When a suit becomes a class action, it extends to all “class members,” or people who may have similar complaints to those who filed the suit.

Companies often settle class actions – offering payment to class members who typically waive their right to pursue further legal action by accepting money.

These payout agreements frequently include statements by the defendant denying wrongdoing. Companies tend to settle class actions to avoid the costs of further litigation.

Pollution, discrimination, or false advertising are a few examples of what can land a class action on a company’s doorstep.
