The high-performance SUV is powered by a 6.5-liter V12 engine, capable of 725 bhp, and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds. <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> Likened to the <a href="https://www.the-sun.com/topic/porsche/" rel="nofollow sponsored nocode noreferrer noopener" target="_blank"> Porsche </a> Cayenne Turbo and the <a href="https://www.the-sun.com/topic/lamborghini/" rel="nofollow sponsored nocode noreferrer noopener" target="_blank"> Lamborghini </a> Urus, the Purosangue’s starting price in the US is an eye-watering $429,000, although <a href="https://www.autoevolution.com/news/ferrari-sues-customer-for-buying-a-ferrari-and-flipping-it-in-no-time-241548.html" rel="nofollow"> Auto Evolution </a> states it can go well above $900,000 for a top-of-the-range model. Only 2,200 to 3,000 examples are being built a year, making it hot property on the used car market. To combat this, Ferrari imposed a strict purchase clause, banning all customers from selling their Purosangue inside the first 18 months of ownership. But according to <a href="https://www.clubalfa.it/en/ferrari-dealer-sues-purosangue-buyer-for-violating-sales-agreement-11127" rel="nofollow"> Club Alfa </a> , gearhead Todd Carlson decided to ignore this restriction and sold off his recently purchased Purosangue – much to the fury of the Houston-based dealer that originally sold it to him. The report states that Carlson has been informed of the violation and has had a lawsuit filed against him for breach of contract at the Harris County District Court . <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> It seems the Opportunity Agreement that Carlson signed when he placed a deposit on his Purosangue indicates that Ferarri of Houston had first refusal on the car in the first 18 months after purchase. To put it plainly, Carlson was not allowed to sell the Ferrari model, which he bought in June 2024, to anybody else except Ferrari until December 2025 – with dealership holding the right to repurchase it back at the original price. By ignoring the contract stipulation, it seems he is now liable to pay Ferrari of Houston any profit he made on its sale.  This isn’t the first time a car brand has banned customers from flipping their newly released and exclusive vehicles. <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> In the past, the likes of <a href="https://www.the-sun.com/topic/rolls-royce/" rel="nofollow sponsored nocode noreferrer noopener" target="_blank"> Rolls-Royce </a> and <a href="https://www.the-sun.com/topic/ford/" rel="nofollow sponsored nocode noreferrer noopener" target="_blank"> Ford </a> have threatened buyers to refrain from re-selling certain models in an attempt to protect enthusiasts from paying over the odds. <a href="https://www.the-sun.com/topic/tesla/" rel="nofollow sponsored nocode noreferrer noopener" target="_blank"> Tesla </a> also made headlines last year after they released the Cybertruck, with the Elon Musk-owned brand hitting anyone who attempted to flip the electric pickup truck for a quick profit with a hefty fine. According to the Cybertruck purchase contract, anyone who’s caught trying to sell their EV without the sale first being approved by Tesla will have to pay a $50,000 fine, or the value received as consideration for the sale or transfer , whichever is greater.
