The Tualatin Lions Club will once again host its annual Oktoberfest, set for Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Tualatin Valley Elks Lodge, 8350 S.W. Warm Springs St.

    Doors open at 5 p.m.

A perennial favorite every autumn, dinner for the event will be locally sourced and will include Zenner’s German Sausage, Willamette Valley sauerkraut, Hamburg-style fries (sprayed with vinegar and heavy-duty salt) and a German dessert.

Beer, wine, cocktails and soft drinks will be available from the Tualatin Elks Lodge bar.

Prepared by the Lions and served by members of Scout Troop 530, dinners are $12 per person. They are available for dine-in or take-out.

“There will be German Oktoberfest music and the Lodge will be brightly decorated for Oktoberfest, which is scheduled just after German Unity Day, ‘Tag Der Deutsche Einheit,’ (Thursday, Oct. 3), so there’s ample travel time for any Germans celebrating Oktoberfest in Munich to get to Tualatin,” Brad King, a longtime organizer of the event, said in a statement. “The Tualatin Lions will be busy in the kitchen making sure the sausage and kraut are ready for everyone. Come celebrate autumn and the harvest the ‘old world way’ with the Tualatin Lions Club.”

The Lions also will offer local merchant raffle items for $1 per ticket. Also, the crowd-pleasing 50/50 raffle will be available as well for $5 per ticket.

All proceeds will benefit underserved neighbors, helping them with sight- and hearing-saving surgery or treatment. That includes exams and eyeglasses or hearing aids, state-of-the-art vision screening for local students, and exams and eyeglasses for those in need.

In addition, it will support local and regional food banks, the Tualatin Caring Closet, and Scout Troops 530 and 35.
