West Linn shows Sherwood the standard in 35-0 win on the gridiron
Sherwood football has hopes for this season, but just how high of hopes was put to the test this last week when they faced state-power West Linn, and based on the result, there’s still work to be done for the Bowmen to get where they ultimately want to go. The Lions won convincingly, 35-0 over Sherwood on Friday, Sept. 13, but with a somewhat inexperienced team and with that inexperience at key positions, the Bowmen left undeterred by what they see as a step forward...

Forest Grove improves to 2-0 with 37-8 rout of Southridge
I’d like to say it wasn’t easy, but it sure looked that way for Forest Grove in their 37-8 win over Southridge on Friday night, Sept. 13, at Southridge High School. The Vikings wasted little time jumping on the Skyhawks, recovering a fumble on the game’s opening drive and later scoring on a Nolan Hudgins to Kyle Fabela 13-yard touchdown pass. But from there it was more of the same, as Forest Grove scored 35 first-half points en route to a second straight win to...

Federal Labor Department accuses R.B. Pamplin corporation of abusing pension funds in lawsuit
Federal leaders are publicly accusing an Oregon businessman of abusing employees’ retirement funds. The U.S. Department of Labor has launched a lawsuit against Robert B. Pamplin Jr. and R.B. Pamplin Corporation on Thursday, Sept. 12, alleging they violated the Employee Retirement Income Security Act as far back as 2019. Pamplin formerly owned a chain of nearly two dozen newspapers in Oregon, including the Portland Tribune. Carpenter Media Group bought the chain earlier this year, severing ties between Pamplin and the papers. The labor department referred to Pamplin’s Albina, Tait and Ross Island properties. The company currently owes the pension plan over $2 million in late lease payments, according to the complaint. This excerpt was originally published by KOIN 6 News and used with permission. Banks girls soccer looks to keep movin' on up
Expectations are high for the girls soccer team at Banks this season. It found the United States had 20 times more deaths by firearms than the other countries even when rates of mental illness were the same. ...
