1 killed, 1 seriously injured in Claiborne County car crash

A head-on collision between two vehicles Wednesday morning near Mount Pleasant Road in Claiborne County claimed one life and left another driver seriously injured.

According to information from the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP), at approximately 11 a.m., a 2013 Infiniti Q70 sedan driven by 44-year-old Shenetra W. Johnson, of Pattison, Miss., was traveling northbound on MS-547. A 2003 Nissan Frontier driven by 39-year-old Yefri W. Castillo-Sierra, of Metairie, La., was traveling southbound on MS-547. The vehicles collided head-on. Johnson received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Castillo-Sierra was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson with serious injuries.

MHP said this crash remains under investigation.
