Due to a bye week, the Northern Illinois football program will have an extra week to savor their 16-14 monster upset of Notre Dame last Saturday in South Bend. United Methodist Church of Geneva celebrates 185
United Methodist Church of Geneva celebrated its 185th anniversary Sunday. Reverend Rob Hamilton, pastor, delivered “Where Two or Three are Gathered,” his first sermon in a four-installment “Happy Anniversary” series. The celebration culminates with a weekend of events Friday, Sept. 27-Sunday, Sept. 29. Included is an evening of homecoming and history, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 27; a community block party and open house, noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 28; and celebration worship service and reception, 9 a.m. to noon, Sept. 29.
Aurora Navy League topic, challenges of the SAFE-T-Act
The Aurora Navy League Council 247 will hold its Tuesday, Sept. 17, dinner meeting at the private room of the Riverview Diner, IL-25 and Mill Street, Montgomery. A reception will begin promptly at 5 p.m. followed by a meeting at 5:30 p.m. with dinner afterward. The cost is $25 all-inclusive if an entree is ordered, or $20 for the dinner salad featured that evening. Free entry without food. The meeting will conclude about 7:30 p.m..
Scholarship Awarded at Plano Methodist Church
Two scholarships were awarded Sunday, Sept. 1, at the Plano Methodist Church to Chloe Hulbert and Elizabeth Gould. Chloe Hulbert, daughter of Bart and Nicole Hulbert, was one of the recipients for this scholarship. Chloe is a Plano High school graduate and will be attending Waubonsee Community College to get an associate degree in business.
