Edith Farnsworth House, a worthy Plano treasure
The Edith Farnsworth House, 14520 River Road, in Plano, is an iconic image of modern architectural genius. A skyscraper in miniature, was created in the 1950s by master architect Mies van de Rohe as a one-room weekend hideaway for Dr. Edith Farnsworth, a prominent Chicago nephrologist. Mies van de Rohe created the glass house with the same structural elements of his larger buildings, such as those found on the campus of the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago Illinois.
A year after end of cash bail, no change in failure to appear rate, analysis shows
One year after Illinois became the first state in the nation to eliminate the use of cash bail, the impact on the state’s criminal justice system appears to have been far less dramatic than people on either side of the debate had predicted. That, at least, is the early...

Are undocumented immigrants a drain on United States public benefit programs? The resounding answer is no!. Reader’s Voice: Agrees with Lauzen, civility needed
This is a response to “Sticks and stones” from Sept. 5, The Voice. In calling on voters to reject junior high school behavior and name-calling, citing the current trend toward “weird” as both a description of policies and behaviors of prominent Republicans by Democrats, in particular J.D. Vance, I was in complete accord with Chris Lauzen’s opinion. Politicians of Vance’s character should never have to endure such adolescent behavior!

Reader’s Commentary: ‘Wayne’s World’ incorrect, Dems botched Afghanistan
“Wayne’s World” Johnson, again, proves to us he doesn’t do his homework. Wayne and factual information don’t mix well. But perhaps it isn’t because Wayne is uninformed, but he’s gotten irrational. Maybe it’s more that Johnson’s depression has made him that way. Wayne is depressed. His hero, Joe Biden, was kicked to the curb by Wayne’s other heroes Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and Barack Obama. These “friends” set poor Joe up for failure.
Gaslighter in The Voice, religion, election polls
•I have a new nickname for the Hungarian nemesis: Gaslighter. For those who are not familiar with that term, a gaslighter is a person who manipulates a conversation in order to gain control over his/her opponent. He/she makes the opponent question their credibility concerning a given topic of discussion. A gaslighter cannot authentically argue his/her own viewpoint or stand behind his/her language and so resorts to lies and/or distortions of reality and attempts to shift responsibility from him/herself and onto the opponent.
Recipe of the Week: Mediterranean Chicken Orzo Salad
Fill a large pot with lightly-salted water and bring to a rolling boil over high heat. Once the water is boiling, stir in the orzo, and return to a boil. Cook the pasta uncovered, stirring occasionally, until the pasta has cooked through, about 11 minutes. Drain and let cool in the refrigerator.
