On June 7 and 8, the Wake Forest FUNGO took on the Reidsville Luckies and the Oak City Gliders.

FUNGO took down the Luckies before falling to the Gliders. Wake Forest now slips to No. 3 in the division, with their 3-2 divisional record falling just short of the Luckies’ 2-1.

    Versus the Luckies

After taking down the Clovers, who were undefeated in divisional battle, Wake Forest next faced the Luckies, another squad undefeated in the Central Divison.

Wake Forest made short work of the Luckies, downing them 10-0 in just seven innings.

Eli Snelson had a great performance, earning FUNGO Player of the Game. In 4.67 innings pitched, Snelson threw four strikeouts and only allowed three hits, giving Wake Forest, and himself, the victory.

At the plate, catcher Josh Wilson led the way in scoring, reaching home twice and adding an RBI despite no hits.

Freddie Oliver and JonAlan Richardson were the only batters with two hits. Both players put up a run and an RBI.

    Versus the Gliders

Heading into the match against the Gliders, FUNGO were on a four-game win streak, not losing since their first match against the Clayton Clovers on the first of June.

Wake Forest led for a majority of the game, up 5-1 heading into the seventh and 5-2 heading into the eighth. The Gliders took over in the top of the eighth, putting up a six-run scoring onslaught. Wake Forest could not surmount the sudden momentum shift and two-run Glider lead, falling 7-5.

Shane Garrett was a bright spot of the bleak outcome for Wake Forest, putting up a two-RBI single and reaching home for a run of his own.

Lucas Granata only had a single hit but put up a game-high three hits.

    Up next

Wake Forest next takes on the Clovers on June 11 at 6:30 p.m. at home.
