School board names new principal

The Wake County Board of Education has named Amy Light principal of Heritage Middle School.

Light previously served as principal of  North Forest Pines Elementary School. The change was approved at the board’s Aug. 20 meeting.

Other personnel changes approved at the meeting include:

Interim Principal

• Stephen Mares, retiree to interim principal at North Forest Pines Elementary.

Assistant Principals

• Carl McDaniel, applicant to assistant principal at Willow Spring High.
• Monica Delgado-Garcia, intervention coordinator at Fuquay-Varina High to assistant principal at Fuquay-Varina High.
• Pauletter Currie, assistant principal intern at Reedy Creek Elementary to part-time Assistant Principal/part-time teacher at Dillard Drive Elementary.
• Syretta Spears, instructional facilitator/technology facilitator at Wakelon Elementary to assistant principal/instructional facilitator at Wakelon Elementary.

Interim Assistant Principals

• Cotelia Williams, teacher at East Wake High to interim assistant principal at East Wake High.
• Melissa McIver, retiree to interim assistant principal at Vance Elementary.
