The town of Wake Forest will hold its first ever “Dive-In Movie” night at the Holding Park Aquatic Center this Saturday.

The event is intended to be a fun gathering for area families and their children. It’s creation was partially prompted by the fact that multiple planned movie nights were cancelled this summer due to rain.
“Kung Fu Panda 4” will be the featured movie projected on a large, blow-up screen on the pool deck. Gates open at 8 p.m., and the movie will start at 8:30 p.m.
“We felt like families would enjoy this kind of event especially because rain has gotten in the way of some of our other activities so far this summer,” Ruben Wall, the head of the town’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department, said.
The new aquatic center was designed with lights to better accommodate night time activities. Wall and his team decided that a movie night would be a great way to make use of those amenities, while providing the community an opportunity for a fun night out.
“We’re glad we have those lights so we can host things like this and not be bound so much by what time the sun sets,” Wall said.
The cost is $5, and guests are required to pre register on the town’s website. Space is limited to the first 100 people to register.
Attendees are invited to watch from the pool or on the pool deck. Pool deck chairs are limited, so attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs.
The Holding Park Aquatic Center is located at 133 W. Owen Ave. in Wake Forest.
