Wake Forest Mayor Vivian Jones announced her support Tuesday for Becky Holt in the upcoming District 10C judicial election for the Wake County Superior Court.

Holt, a Republican, is seeking reelection against Democratic challenger Sean Cole.

“I have known and respected Judge Holt for a number of years. Her 28 years of experience as a courtroom prosecutor and her experience on the bench give her the credentials and credibility she needs to serve the people of North Raleigh, Rolesville, Wakefield and Wake Forest,” Jones said.

Superior Court judges serve eight-year terms on the bench. Holt was elected in 2016, and her term is up in November.

Holt grew up in Jacksonville, and earned her law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill in 1987.

“Having Mayor Jones on my team is a great honor.  Her stable leadership in Wake Forest has been a guiding force in our growing region.  I am grateful for her trust and support,” Holt said.

Prior to 2016, Holt served Wake County as an Assistant District Attorney for 27 years.

Her competitor, Sean Cole, is a courtroom attorney who has served as the editor-in-chief for five editions of the North Carolina Manual of Complaints for over 10 years. He has also instructed more than 50 continuing legal education classes throughout the state.

Holt and Cole will both appear on the ballot as part of this election cycle’s General Election Nov. 5.
