A worker at the Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City, Iowa, drowned this week after getting trapped under submerged maintenance equipment in a pond at the park.

Christopher Plowman, 38, of Tiffin, Iowa, got trapped in the pond sometime Wednesday afternoon.

First responders got word of his entrapment at around 1:40 p.m. and gor him out of the pond, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said.

It was not known how long Mr. Plowman had been stuck under the equipment in the pond.

The investigation of the incident, including how Mr. Plowman and the equipment got stuck in the pond, is ongoing, the sheriff's office said.
