"People joke around that you could probably cook an egg - with a side of bacon" on the sidewalk, elementary teacher Michaele Rague said. R​ague talked to us by phone from the schoolyard while students played nearby. "We do a quick morning recess to get the kids outside before it gets really bad," she said. "R​eally bad" in Phoenix is relative. Friday was the city's 103rd day in a row with temperatures 100 degrees or hotter. "It's not normal for it to be this hot this long." One thing on everyone's mind: It's even record-hot at night."When the sun goes down, it's still 100 degrees outside," Vaules said. "But without the sun out, it's kind of a different heat. It's not so unbearable. You're not being burned by the sun."Values lives in Scottsdale, about 25 minutes northwest of downtown Phoenix. He said many people adjust their routines to do anything outside at 5 or 6 in the morning. He tells everyone to drink water all day long."If you've been here most of your life, all of your life, you just accept it," Vaules said of his hometown's scorching heat.'​Clearly We've Got Some Issues'Kimberly Camarillo doesn't buy the "it's a dry heat" schtick that her East Coast friends and family like to drop. “It's kind of like turning your oven on to 450, letting it get all the way up to that and then opening it and sticking your face in it. That's what it's like when you walk out of the door," Camarillo said. "It's like pointing a hair dryer at your face all day."Camarillo plans to move in the next few years from her home in Goodyear, Arizona, to someplace cooler. B​ut she's worried about warming temperatures in general, not just in Arizona. "I mean, clearly we've got some issues with climate change and that's definitely affecting all of this," Camarillo said. It's 120 degrees. You will die if you stay outside too long.”Having moved to the area just a few years ago, she says she still appreciates it over the cold. "You know, if you're a pessimist you're going to complain about the weather no matter where you are, and if you're an optimist you're going to see the advantages to the weather wherever you are," Farrell said.W​hen Will The Phoenix Record Heat Streak End?A​mong the eye-popping records within the streak, compiled by weather.com senior meteorologist Jonathan Erdman:-​A low temperature of 93 degrees Friday morning. That's 12 degrees above normal for this time of year, and a new record-warm low for the month of September.-​A high of 116 degrees on Thursday, an all-time record for the month. It was also the first time it's been that hot this late in the year.-​More days of temperatures 110 degrees or hotter than any other year on record.-​Hottest June, hottest summer and hottest year to date.But there is some good news. “The powerful heat dome of high pressure responsible for this is forecast to weaken.
