CHARMCO- It took only five innings for the no. 1 seed Greenbrier West Lady Cavaliers to take down the (5) Webster County Lady Highlanders as West won 11-0 in the Class A Region 3, Section 2 opener.

Preslee Treadway belted two home runs on the night and finished with four RBIs to lead the Cavalier offensive attack.

And that attack began in the first couple of innings.

In the bottom of the first and with one out, Maddie Fields singled to center and ended up on second two pitches later after a steal. Then, with two outs, Treadway launched one of her home runs on the first pitch of the at bat and the Cavs led 2-0 after one.

Brooklyn Adkins scored on a passed ball in the second frame and Brooke Patterson singled home Diana Porter a couple batters later. Finally, Ma. Fields got her sister Kenna Fields across home plate with a sac fly and Greenbrier West led 5-0 after two innings of play.

After walking the first two batters in the top of the third, Cavs pitcher Kyndall Taylor settled down and struck out the next three hitters and got out of a mini jam.

In the bottom of the fourth, West (17-7) put the game away. Porter scored another run, this time on an error, and Ma. Fields drove a 2-run double to center. Two batters later, Treadway blasted her second homer of the night over the left field fence and the Cavs cruised to an easy postseason victory.

Taylor pitched five innings, gave up just one hit, and had four strikeouts.

Besides Treadway’s offensive prowess, Ma. Fields was 2-3 with two runs and three RBIs. Patterson (2-3, run, RBI) and Brooklyn Adkins (2-3, run, RBI) also had multiple hits. The Cavs had 10 hits as a team.

West gets back on the field on Wednesday, May 1 and will battle Midland Trail at 6:00 PM at Cavalier Field.
