    State Track & Field Meet a Success for Lady Spartans

    CHARLESTON- The Greenbrier East Lady Spartans performed exceptionally well at the 2024 WVSSAC State Track & Field Championship. The Lady Spartans scored a team total of 19 points. To put this in greater perspective, East had only scored a total of eight points combined since 2017.

    The Lady Spartans had four athletes earn All-State Honors:  Neena McClintic in three events, Annie Whited in two events and Noelle McClintic and Kiana McClung in one event each.

    “We are really excited about our program,” said coach Nikola McClintic.

    “We have an extremely young team. Our team is primarily freshmen and sophomores, with two juniors and two seniors. We are so proud of our accomplishments this year,” she exclaimed with excitement.

    Annie Whited finished third in the 400 and Noelle McClintic 11th as a sophomore and freshman, respectively.  Both finished with their best times for the season ranked in top eight in the state.

    Neena McClintic finished fourth in the mile and sixth in the 800 as a freshman.

    The 4×400 Relay finished fourth with three freshmen and one sophomore–Noelle McClintic, Kiana McClung, Neena McClintic, Annie Whited–as they ran a season PR by over three seconds at the state meet.

    The 4×800 relay team finished 9th, even though we did not place in the top eight.  They just missed the school record by one second–Noelle McClintic, Kate Adkins, Annie Whited, Neena McClintic– and ran a season best PR by over 16 seconds.

    Shuttle Hurdle Team finished 11th overall with two freshman, one sophomore and one senior.  This team battled back and ran a season PR.  Avery Thompson, Mia Rowan, EmmaJo Palmer, Megan Canterbury.  Ran a season best PR.

    Our 4×100 relay team finished 14th with three freshman and one sophomore.  Avery Thompson, Kiana McClung, Mia Rowan, EmmaJo Palmer.

    4×200 Relay team finished 14th with two freshman, one sophomore and one senior–Noelle McClintic, Kiana McClung, Annie Whited and Megan Canterbury.
