FAIRLEA W.Va. (WVDN) – The State Fair will feature a performance on the final night to send off 2024 with a bang in longtime country artist Travis Tritt.

    WHO IS TRAVIS TRITT?

That is a question mainly for people born in the 2000s because if you lived through the late 80s and 90s, Tritt was all over the radio and TV.

Born in Marietta, Georgia, Tritt, 61, is still selling out shows whenever he decides to play one. Tritt began singing at a young age in his Sunday school choir and at age eight, received his first guitar. He began writing music in high school and his first song was called ‘Spend a Little Time’ about a girlfriend whom he had broken up with not long before.

As Tritt moved through his career, he eventually signed with Warner Bros. Records and his second album sent his music career to a different level. The album shipped three million copies, had four singles reach the top of the country music charts, and excelled Tritt’s popularity to new heights.

Another popular album for Tritt over the years was in 1992 when he released ‘T-R-O-U-B-L-E’ and his first single from that record, ‘Lord Have Mercy on the ‘Working Man’ peaked at No. 5 on the charts.

Tritt also hit the big screen and made his acting debut in a movie with Kenny Rogers called Rio Diablo. He then made a cameo appearance in ‘Cowboy Way’ as a bull rider in a film that starred Woody Harrelson and Kiefer Sutherland.

The southern rock country star continued to gain notoriety and in the 1990s was one of the biggest country names in the industry.

    WHY SHOULD YOU PURCHASE TICKETS?

Tritt is a mega name in country music and always will be. In his heyday, artists such as Aaron Tippin, Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, Billy Ray Cyrus, Dolly Parton, and Reca McIntire were names you always heard with Tritt right there with them.

He performed at the State Fair several years ago and the show was great. He had a large crowd and is a down-to-earth singer who engages with his fans from the stage as well. An opportunity to see a country music name that will live on forever is a good reason to get to the grandstand on Saturday night, August 17. War Hippies will also take the stage to open for Tritt.
