FAIRLEA W.Va. (WVDN) – In this edition of the State Fair Concert Series, we will focus on the band Seether.

    WHO IS SEETHER?

A South African rock band, Seether was arguably a top 3 or 4 band in the early to mid-2000s. They were formed in 1999 in Pretoria, Gauteng by lead vocalist Shaun Morgan, Dale Stewart (bass/vocals) and John Humphrey (drums). They are still, to this day, one of the most successful rock bands in the world. Their worldwide sales are over four million with their single sales reaching over seven million.

In 2002, Seether ruled the top charts with their hit, no. 1 single “Fine Again” and in 2004 released “Broken”, also a huge success that climbed to no. 20 on the Billboard Top 100 charts, and it came out with an alternate version featuring Amy Lee of the band Evanescence.

They have since experienced continued success with number-one hits on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, such as “Remedy”, “Fake It”, “Country Song”, “Words as Weapons”, and “Let You Down”.

    WHY SHOULD YOU GET TICKETS?

Those born in the 1980s and early 1990s are most likely the biggest Seether fans on the planet. They are a hard rock (sometimes screamo) band and are extremely popular. The band however has not released an album since 2021 and it was just a five song EP titled, “Wasteland- The Purgatory.” However, they just recently announced a new album coming out in September of 2024. Morgan, the lead singer, is one of the most recognizable faces in rock music. If you happen to like Nirvana, Staind, Alice in Chains, Shinedown, Breaking Benjamin, etc., then Seether may be a fair concert ticket you want to snatch up.

While doing some digging, I came across a live show they did in Florida in May of 2024. The comments were all positive with things like “Amazing show”, “Seether is always awesome”, and “Always been a great live band.”

Seether is scheduled to perform at the WV State Fair on Monday, August 12.
