Lewisburg, WVa. (WVDN) – The temperatures are slowly starting to dip, the State Fair of West Virginia has officially wrapped up, and summer is quickly coming to a close. Soon school will be back in session, much to the students’ dismay. After that final bell rings and school is dismissed, send your kids to Greenbrier Valley Theatre’s drama classes. These classes, beginning on September 9 and running through November 20, are open to students ages four through 18. Theatre classes provide opportunities for students to learn life skills through play, including empathy, public speaking, critical thinking, effective problem solving, collaboration and imagination, and much more in a safe and supportive environment. All skill levels are welcome.

“We are excited to welcome students back to GVT classes,” said Education Director Dorothy Jo Oberfoell. “These classes are a great experience for anyone who is interested in theatre or simply looking to try something new.”

Classes are held between Monday through Wednesday, with an official schedule able to be found on the organization’s website. For more information and to register your child, visit the theatre’s website: www.gvtheatre.org or call the box office at (304) 645-3838. Classes are $90 per semester or $170 if paying for both Fall and Spring classes. Sibling discounts and need-based scholarships are available, but forms are due at least one week prior to classes beginning.

Now in its 57th season, Greenbrier Valley Theatre, The State Professional Theatre of West Virginia is a mainstay and theatre destination located in Lewisburg, WV. The arts organization has been further recognized as a “West Virginia Jewel of the Hills,” awarded the Living the Dream Service Organization Honor Roll by The Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission, and is a multi-year recipient of Non-Profit Business of the Year. GVT boasts a robust series of year-round programing and educational offers with the goal to enlighten, enrich, and enliven throughout the region.
