BECKLEY W.Va. (WVDN) – The Arby’s Foundation recently raised funds for both the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia and the Raleigh County Board of Education, totaling more than $15,000 donated to West Virginia children in need.

Over the course of six weeks, all Arby’s locations in the Charleston/Huntington and Beckley/Bluefield markets, in conjunction with partnering Little General Stores, raised funds through customer donations. A check for $11,000 was presented to Children’s Home Society, with approximately $5,000 of the money raised coming out of the Belle and Sam Black Church store locations.

Children’s Home Society (CHS), a nonprofit that serves all 55 counties of West Virginia, uses these funds to help support families facing crises, to fund emergency children shelters and support foster care and adoptive families. “I love that I know that the money we give to the Children’s Home Society is going directly to the kids – every dollar is accounted for,” said Josh Weitzman, Assistant Food Service Director at Little General Stores. “They send us a list every year of what that money is able to buy.”

In the last three years, almost $42,000 has been raised by The Arby’s Foundation for Children’s Home Society. “The funds are used to help basic needs, to help a family who is facing the crisis of the refrigerator broke or the washer or dryer broke – or they need food right now, they need dressers, they may need beds,” said Mary White, CEO of Children’s Home Society.

Along with the $11,000 donated to CHS, The Arby’s Foundation was also able to raise $4,700 for the Raleigh County Board of Education’s annual clothing drive. This donation helps ensure that all Raleigh County Schools are stocked with extra clothing should needs arise.
