Community Support Highlights Search for Stolen Yukon After State Fair Theft

LEWISBURG, W.Va. (WVDN) — Susie Wyatt, a Greenbrier County resident, is still searching for her stolen 2012 Yukon Denali after it was taken from the State Fair of West Virginia grounds on Aug. 18. In a recent social media post, Wyatt expressed deep gratitude for the community’s support and provided an update on the ongoing investigation.

Reportedly, the vehicle was stolen around 11:09 a.m. The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the theft and working to recover the car. According to Wyatt, law enforcement has been in contact with Virginia authorities as part of the search.

Wyatt stated that she has been overwhelmed by the kindness and concern shown by friends, family and even strangers, who have reached out with prayers, calls and messages. According to Wyatt, people have been looking out for her vehicle and even drove around looking in an effort to help her.

To aid in the search, she shared photos of the Yukon on social media, including one of two small holes in the front bumper. Authorities have reportedly identified a person of interest in connection with the theft, Wyatt said.

In her update, Wyatt noted that many people had suggested checking with OnStar for tracking assistance. However, she reported that OnStar was unable to help because the vehicle’s system, which operates on 2G towers, is incompatible with the area’s upgraded 5G network.

Wyatt urges anyone with information about the person of interest or the stolen vehicle to contact the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department or reach out to her directly.
