Lady Spartans XC Wins Chick-Fil-A Invitational, Boys’ Finish Sixth

BECKLEY- The Greenbrier East boys and girls track teams competed in the Chick-Fil-A Invitational at Beckley Stratton Middle School on Saturday, Aug. 24.

Greenbrier East finished in sixth place as a team out of 10 teams in the event, so a solid start for the up-and-coming Spartan boys’ runners. Shady Spring, George Washington, and St. Albans were the top three team finishers. A total of 115 boys ran.

Below are the final results:

1. Jackson Carter- 17 ^th overall-18:56.1

2. Grayson Adams- 21st overall- 19:10.05

3. Robby White- 24 ^th overall- 19:19.3

4. Kalem Mahon- 58 ^th overall- 21:04.5

5. Kaydom Broihier- 76 ^th overall- 22:15.8

6. Owen Wolford- 83rd overall- 22:44.2

On the girls’ side, The Spartans took control early and never looked back and just dominated from start to finish. Robert McClintic’s team features his daughter, Neena McClintic—who finished second overall—Kate Adkins and Jilian Styles, who placed sixth and seventh, respectively, Maddie Lilly (ninth), and Luella Mansheim (19 ^th ). Noelle McClintic and Beth Defibaugh also placed in the top 30 out of 94 total female runners.

The Spartan girls finished with 42 points.

2. Kate Adkins- 6 ^th overall- 22:08.6

3. Jilian Styles- 7 ^th overall- 22:19.5

4. Maddie Lilly- 9 ^th overall- 22:47.9

5. Luella Mansheim- 19 ^th overall- 23:57.1

6. Noelle McClintic- 26 ^th overall- 24:43.5

7. Beth Defibaugh- 30th overall- 24:58.5

8. Leah Boggs- 54th overall- 26:45.1

9. Carter Wolfe- 76th overall- 30:00.9

Greenbrier West’s Larissa Wickline finished 60th overall as well.
