    Obituary: Paul Ray Morton, 72

    Paul Ray Morton

    Paul Ray Morton, a dedicated Navy Vietnam Veteran, husband, father, grandfather, and avid outdoorsman, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024, at the age of 72.

    A native of West Virginia, Paul was the son of the late Ruth Marie Kessler and David Howard Morton Sr. He was also preceded in death by his beloved brother and sister, David Howard Morton Jr. and Greta Morton Waddell; and daughter, Wendy Lynn Morton.

    Paul served his country honorably in the Vietnam War. His dedication and bravery during his time of service will always be remembered. He truly loved his country. Paul was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by all.

    After returning home, Paul developed a deep love for the outdoors. He spent countless hours biking; hunting; spending time with family; and cherishing his time with his wife, Sherry, and his beloved cat, Binx, up on his mountaintop home.

    Paul is survived by his wife, Sherry Morton; his children, Stacy Morton, James Saylor, David Saylor, and Cole Saylor; and his grandchildren, Will, Julia, and Lennix Jarrell.

    Celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, September 2, 2024, at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, Monday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in the Martin Cemetery, Brown School Road, Rainelle, WV.
