Vandalia Health Hospitals Presented CORE 2024 Donate Life West Virginia Hospital Challenge Awards

CHARLESTON W.Va. (WVDN) – Twelve Vandalia Health hospitals were awarded in the Centers for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE) 2024 Donate Life West Virginia Hospital Challenge Awards at Stonewall Resort.

Each year, hospitals participate in the Donate Life Hospital Challenge. This challenge is an initiative designed to encourage hospitals to increase awareness about organ and tissue donation and transplantation. During Donate Life Month in April, hospitals participate in and host a variety of activities to raise awareness, educate, and more, earning points toward the challenge. The luncheon and awards ceremony are hosted by CORE each year to recognize these efforts.

CAMC General and Memorial hospitals in Charleston received platinum awards, CAMC Teays Valley Hospital in Hurricane and CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital in Charleston received Gold Awards. CAMC Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill received a Silver Award.

“Since we are an organ donor hospital with a nationally recognized kidney transplant program, it is important to us as a health system to educate the public, increase donor registrations and supporting donor families,” said Glenn Crotty, Jr., MD, President and CEO of CAMC and Executive Vice President of Vandalia Health. “The awards are a testimony to the dedication of our incredible organ donation and transplant teams.”

Davis Health System’s Broaddus Hospital in Philippi received a Gold Award, and Davis Medical Center in Elkins and Webster Memorial in Webster Springs received Platinum Awards.

Mon Health’s four hospitals were awarded for their significant role in raising awareness and educating the community about the life-saving power of organ donation. Mon Health Marion Neighborhood Hospital in White Hall, Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown, and Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston each received the Platinum Award, the second highest designation, and Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood was awarded the Titanium Award, the highest designation.
