GHENT W.Va (WVDN) – New River Community and Technical College registration is now open for its next Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Training program, set to begin October 7th. This training is designed to provide participants with the essential skills and knowledge required to obtain a CDL, helping them prepare for lucrative and in-demand careers in the trucking and transportation industry.

The CDL training will take place at the Advanced Technology Center (ATC) in Ghent and will be offered in two phases. The first phase, Learner’s Prep Week, begins on Oct. 7 and is aimed at individuals seeking additional practice and support before entering the full CDL class. The second phase, the comprehensive CDL Class, starts on Oct. 14 and combines classroom instruction with hands-on driving experience to fully prepare students for the CDL licensing exam.

The cost of the program is $4,135 for the standard CDL class and $4,824 for students opting to include the additional week of Learner’s Prep. This opportunity is open to everyone, including students, employees, and the community. Whether participants are starting a new career or enhancing their skill set, this CDL program is a perfect gateway into the transportation field.

Financial Aid is available, and New River CTC has Financial Aid advisors ready to assist you in exploring the available aid opportunities.

Preregistration is required, and early registration is highly encouraged as class size is limited. To register or obtain more information, please contact Gloria Kincaid at 304-793-6101 or gkincaid@newriver.edu , or fill out a Workforce Education Form .
