FRANKFORD W.Va. (WVDN) – The Ladies of the Henning Church of God held their regular monthly meeting, on Tuesday, September 10, in the church fellowship hall. Carole Spencer presided and Angie Scott led in prayer. The ladies released the following report:

“Dyan Hefner, spiritual life leader, brought us our devotion, ‘What is stress?’ with scripture reference Matthew 11:28-30. We all know and have experienced stress. What is rest? What is growth? We can grow spiritually and physically. Rest and stress is where growth happens. Bodies grow when we are asleep. Plants do their most growing at night. Jesus instructed in Matthew 11:28, ‘Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.’ Many are beaten down by life and true rest must be found in Jesus. To truly have rest, we need to put our faith in the Lord. Peace will flood you when you trust in the Lord. The main thing you can do is pray and give it to the Lord. Growth comes when we stop worrying. Stress plus rest equals growth.

“Barb Seldomridge, missionary education leader, brought us our report, ‘Constructing a Future of Hope in Haiti.” Haitians had been using a tent church for over a year and were told to dismantle it. They have been able to purchase land for a church and have been having services there in an open-air tent. They have had over 90 people attending services. They are planning to build a church that will cost between seventeen and eighteen thousand dollars. Our group made a donation for the construction of the church.

“Jamie Harvey gave the treasurer’s report and Pauline Perkins read last month’s minutes.

“Spencer thanked everyone for their help with the yard sale. It was quite successful. The group will be serving the Ruritans on September 26.Prayer retreat will be held at Cedar Lakes on September 27 and 28. A fun day at church will be held on September 29 after church service. A dinner will be held on October 6 for Pastor appreciation after church service. The church will be holding a revival from October 6 – 11 with speaker Jeremy Dunn. On October 19, the Fifth Ave Church of God in Charleston will be hosting Mission Day with speakers Tim and Jenn Adams.”

The next meeting will be held Oct. 1 and Dyan Hefner dismissed in prayer.

Attending were Alice Coff, Angie Scott, Barb Seldomridge, Cari Nelson, Carole Spencer, Cindy Fleshman, Debbie Sammons, Donna Scott, Dyan Hefner, Fran Spencer, Jamie Harvey, Marty Burns, Pauline Perkins, Patty Owens and Sue Hunt.
