    Pocahontas County Opera House Announces Return of ALASH for 25th Season Celebration

    MARLINTON W.Va. (WVDN) — The Pocahontas County Opera House is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated return of ALASH, the acclaimed masters of Tuvan throat singing, as part of its ongoing 25th-season celebration. The ensemble, a perennial favorite among Opera House audiences, is set to take the stage on Oct. 12 at 7 p.m.

    Known for their extraordinary mastery of Tuvan throat singing, or xöömei, ALASH seamlessly blends traditional Tuvan music with contemporary influences, creating a captivating sound that is both ancient and modern. Praised by The Washington Post as “utterly stunning,” ALASH has garnered international acclaim for their intricate harmonies and innovative fusion of Western instruments while preserving the deep-rooted traditions of throat singing.

    The ensemble features Bady-Dorzhu Ondar (vocals, igil, guitar, bayan), Ayan-ool Sam (vocals, doshpuluur, igil, xomus), and Ayan Shirizhik (vocals, kengirge, shyngyrash, shoor, xomus). Their groundbreaking approach to Tuvan music has captivated global audiences, making their return a highlight of the Opera House’s season.

    To accommodate its diverse audience, the Opera House ensures a family-friendly and accessible environment. Special accommodations are available upon request.

    All shows at the Pocahontas County Opera House will now begin at 7 p.m. This new start time aims to better serve our audience and community.

    Seats for this eagerly awaited performance are on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance to secure their spot. Tickets are available for a $10 donation for adults, while those aged 17 and younger enjoy free admission.
