One fatality in car crash in Yawkey

YAWKEY W.Va. (WVDN) – A vehicle crash in Yawkey lead to the death of one individual. The West Virginia State Police released the following information:

“On Thursday, October 17, 2024, Trooper R. S. Clagg was called to a car crash resulting in a fatality on WV State Route 214 in Yawkey, WV (Lincoln County).  Trooper R. S. Clagg’s preliminary investigation revealed the victim, Venancio Motta Santos, 44 years of age from Shelbyville, KY, was flagging for a tree company and was standing on the right-side roadway edge. Jimmy Wilburn, 47 years of age from Sumerco, WV, was driving a black in color Chevrolet Silverado when he failed to get stopped and struck Venancio Motta Santos. Venancio Motta Santos was transported to CAMC General where he succumbed to his injuries.”

The status of this investigation remains active and ongoing.
