    All-you-can ingest wings, margaritas and mojitos await Wichita this weekend

    For the first time since before COVID-19, Intrust Bank Arena is putting on its Wingapalooza event — which features all-you-can-eat wings provided by local restaurants. It happens on Saturday, but it’s not the only big event happening in and around Wichita this weekend.

    Return of Wingapalooza

    11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Intrust Bank Arena , 500 E. Waterman

    For the first time in five years, Intrust Bank Arena is putting on its Wingapalooza event, which allows people to sample unlimited wings from more than 20 local restaurants, including Jumbo’s Beef & Brew, Lotte and Stroud’s. It happens from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and will also include a beer garden, music from a live DJ and wing-eating and stein-holding contests. Admission is $30 in advance, $35 at the door. Tickets are available at www.selectaseat.com , by phone at 316-755-7328, or in person at the Select-A-Seat Box Office at Intrust Bank Arena.

    Margaritas & Mojitos

    6-10 p.m. Friday, Brick & Mortar, 230 S. Topeka

    This weekend also marks the return of Margaritas and Mojitos, an event by Festive ICT that allows people to sample drinks made by local restaurants. The event happens from 6 to 10 p.m. tonight, Aug. 9, at Brick & Mortar. Those who attend will get free samples of margaritas, mojitos, and food while supplies last. Among the restaurants participating are Los Compadres Mexican Grill, Emerson Biggin’s, Chicken N Pickle and Good Company. Tickets to the event, which is open to ages 21 and over, are $60 with discounts available for groups. Get them at ritasandmojitos.com . Day-of tickets are $70.

    Meet an author

    2-4 p.m. Saturday, Advanced Learning Library, 711 W. Second.

    Saturday is Local Author Day at the Wichita Public Library’s Advanced Learning Library. The event includes a writer’s panel from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., and then from 2 to 4 p.m., a diverse lineup of local authors will be on hand with copies of their books for sale. Titles include both adult and children’s books. It lasts from 2 to 4 p.m., and admission is free.

    Rodeo time

    8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Chisholm Trail Saddle Club, 9138 S. 167th St. West, Clearwater

    Local rodeo fans can head to Clearwater this weekend for the 56th annual Chisholm Trail Saddle Club Rodeo. It starts at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the Chisholm Trail Saddle Club and will feature bull riding, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing and more. The event also will include concessions and live music after the rodeo. Tickets are $15 a person or $40 a carload for adults. The rodeo takes cash only.     Ben Folds in concert

    8 p.m. Saturday, The Cotillion, 11120 W. Kellogg

    Emmy-nominated musician Ben Folds will bring his “Paper Airplane Request” tour to Wichita’s Cotillion Ballroom on Saturday. Folds, whose hit songs include “Brick” and “Rockin’ the Suburbs,” is known for his piano and vocal talent. The show starts at 8 p.m., and doors will open at 7 p.m. The opening act will be Lindsey Kraft. Tickets are $40 to $70 thecotillion.com

    Bored Teachers

    7:30 p.m. Saturday, Kansas Star Casino, 777 Kansas Star Drive, Mulvane

    Just in time for back to school, online teacher-comedians Bored Teachers will bring “The Struggle is Real!” comedy tour to the Kansas Star Arena at Mulvane’s Kansas Star Casino. The show is set for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Bored Teachers, who have more than 10 million online followers, share the realities of life in a classroom. The show is open to all ages. Tickets are $35 to $55 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com
