Kansas announced the winning personalized license plate design after residents were asked to cast their vote on a pool of five designs earlier this month.

The winning design features the iconic Flint Hills, which received over 56% of the roughly 30,000 votes, a Kansas Department of Revenue news release said Monday.

“We are excited to reveal the next Kansas personalized plate design and will now work to get the design ready for production and for Kansans to purchase in 2025,” KDOR Division of Vehicles Director David Harper said.

The new design will replace the current “Powering the Future” design that features wind turbines on a dark orange and yellow background, which will no longer be available after Jan. 1, 2025. Anyone who has this design must replace their plate during their next renewal period, according to KDOR.

The Flint Hills design will cost $45.50 and will available to buy at your county treasurer’s office. A form is available online to print out and take with you when you apply.

The Flint Hills , in eastern Kansas, are one of the last remaining tallgrass prairie eco-systems in the world.
