New business offers golfers extra practice, coaching and a place to play

Jason Voos grew up playing golf with his father, and then he introduced the sport to his own kids about four years ago.
“We’re a golf family,” said Amy McKee, Voos’ partner and mother to their two girls. “We love golf.”
Now, they’re sharing that love with Wichita through the Good Life Golf Lab , an indoor golf facility they plan to open by late October at the Shops at Avante on the west side at 37th North and Ridge Road.
“It is three high-end private bays with indoor golf simulators,” McKee said. “The nice thing about it is there’s technology that actually allows multiple objectives to be met.”
That could be a simple practice or a more refined practice session where three high-speed cameras share up to 26 data points of information. McKee said there’s a performance center within each simulator for AI coaching. The cameras allow golfers to see their stances from multiple angles.
“You can also play games, which is actually really helpful,” McKee said.
She said that’s especially great for kids and beginners.
Golfers can choose to play from more than 250 iconic golf courses from around the world.
“Having it be fun and having it be safe are really critical components to us,” McKee said.
It takes about an hour to play 18 holes, so she said it’s great for people to stop by on their lunch breaks.
“They’re also really great for business meetings,” McKee said of the private rooms. “You know, a lot of business is done on the golf course.”
She said there are leather couches and chairs that make it comfortable for groups to hang out.
“They’re also perfect for families.”
For people who choose memberships, there is 24-7 access to the facility.
“We’re trying to accommodate a range of price points,” McKee said.
There will be discounts for founding annual members.
McKee said the best deal is an annual membership, but the simulators can be rented by the hour as well.
Prices range from $18 to $55 an hour.
McKee said she and Voos chose the west side because they live there but also because of need in the area.
“We really feel like the northwest area of town is really underserved on opportunities for entertainment.”
McKee said she and Voos hope to expand as well.
“We’ve already got people begging us to go out east.”
