If you need to get a flu shot in Wichita, Saturday may be a good day to do so.

The University of Kansas School of Pharmacy and Walgreens announced they are bringing three free flu shot clinics to Wichita on Sept. 21. The clinics will be at Hunter Health Clinic, 527 N. Grove St.; Guadalupe Clinic, 940 St. Francis; and HealthCore Clinic, 2707 E. 21st St. N. All clinics will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Flu shots are free for everyone, and no registration is required.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the ideal time to get a flu shot is in September or October, before the usual peak of flu season.

Not only will the clinics provide free flu shots for the community, but it will also serve as a learning opportunity for KU’s pharmacy students, who will staff the event alongside Walgreens pharmacists.

“This event holds significant meaning not only for our students but also for our community partners. The students value the opportunity to engage and apply the knowledge they’ve gained throughout the program, while the community benefits from these efforts to promote health and well-being,” Dr. Bradley Newell, associate dean for the school of pharmacy, said in a press release.

Anyone age 3 and older can receive the flu shot. If your child is under the age of 3, you should check with your pediatrician.

If you can’t make it to this weekend’s clinics and are curious where you can get your flu shots this season, the CDC has an online tool where you can enter your ZIP code and see vaccine providers near you.
