Led by junior Tristan Stancil, three Greenfield School pitchers limited visiting Fayetteville Christian batters to five hits in a 5-1 victory for the Knights in the second round of the NCISAA 2-A baseball playoffs Wednesday at Ralph Hodge Family Field.

It was the first postseason game for the No. 2-seeded Knights, who will take a 14-5 mark into Saturday’s home clash with The Burlington School in the third round. Greenfield had a first-round bye.

Fayetteville Christian, which bludgeoned Liberty Christian 20-2 in the first round, concluded 7-7 overall.

Stancil worked four scoreless innings to get the win, giving up four hits, walking four and striking out six. Junior left-hander Christopher Tankersley allowed one hit and struck out one in his one inning of work.

Simon Quinn, another junior, notched the save with two hitless innings. The Warriors scratched him for an unearned run in the top of the seventh inning.

Quinn, junior Garrison Wester and senior Quintin Blake each had two hits and an RBI for Greenfield, which collected 10 hits. Tankersley doubled in three at-bats while Stancil was 1 for 3 with an RBI. Tankersley also swiped a pair of bases.
