The road will grow tougher for the Hunt High girls soccer team in the NCHSAA 3-A playoffs moving, but the Warriors’ 6-1 second-round win was a sunset cruise on a spectacular Thursday evening.

Senior Cappa Bunn rifled in four goals to lead Hunt, the 3-A East No. 4 seed, in its most prolific scoring performance in two weeks. The 3-A Quad County Conference-champion Warriors, now 17-4-1, scored four in the first half and only gave a penalty kick goal to the No. 13 Yellow Jackets, the runner-up in the 3-A/4-A Sandhills Conference.

Juniors Natalie Capps and Kamryn Graybeal each added goals for the Warriors in their 10th straight win. Seniors Kate Conoley and Katie Davis as well as junior Mariah Polk and Graybeal each provided an assist for Hunt, which totaled 17 shots.

Hunt, which has reached the fourth round the past two seasons, will host Holly Ridge Dixon in the third round next week, probably Monday. The No. 12 Bulldogs (16-3-2) of the 3-A Coastal Conference spilled No. 5 Union Pines 1-0 on Thursday.
