A Wilson man faces rape charges after police say he sexually assaulted a woman Sunday.

Luis Palacio Jaimes, 31, of the 600 block of Blakewood Street East, is charged with one count of felony first-degree forcible rape, according to a release from Sgt. Eric McInerny, public information officer with the Wilson Police Department.

McInerny said that at 4:55 p.m. Sunday, the victim came to the Wilson Police Department to speak to officers. The victim told investigators that Jaimes had sexually assaulted her that morning.

After further investigation, McInerny said police obtained a warrant on Jaimes, who was arrested Wednesday.

Jaimes was placed in the Wilson County Detention Center and given no bond.

Police ask anyone with information about the case to call the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.
