    Lady Chargers fall in 5 to Southside

    A set away from its first win of the varsity volleyball season, Wilson Christian watched visiting Southside Christian of Clayton rally to claim victory in five games Tuesday, Aug. 27, in the NCCSA 2-A East Region opener for the Chargers.

    Wilson Christian, now 0-3 overall, won the first set 25-18 and, after dropping the second set by the same score, took the lead again with a 25-21 verdict in the third game. But the Warriors (2-3, 1-2 region) rallied to win the fourth set 25-17 and then overwhelmed the Chargers 15-2 in the decisive fifth game.

    Melanie Raper served four aces to go with a kill for the Lady Chargers while Logan Ballance handed out 19 assists. Reagan Sherrod had two kills and two assists and Maddie Reynell added three assists.

    The Lady Chargers will continue region play Thursday with a visit to Greenville Christian.
