Time is expiring for a winner to step forward to claim the $156,060 prize that a Carolina Cash 5 ticket purchased in Wilson won on April 11.

“Search everywhere you keep your tickets and double check any you have to see if you have the winning ticket,” Mark Michalko, executive director of the North Carolina Education Lottery, said in a news release. “We hope that whomever purchased this ticket comes forward to claim their prize soon so we can celebrate their big win with them.”

The ticket was purchased for the April drawing at the H Mart at 1207 Forest Hills Road across from Burrito Shak. The ticket matched all five numbers — 1, 4, 7, 39 and 43. Michalko said the odds of matching all five numbers to the random draw of lottery balls is one in 962,598.

“It’s a big surprise,” H Mart owner Zack Moharram said. “You wouldn’t expect to get the big winner, but it’s out there somewhere. I don’t know if they lost the ticket or why they haven’t claimed it. If it was me, I wouldn’t have let that get away.”

The ticket’s redemption expires on Tuesday, Oct. 8. To claim the prize, the ticket must be presented at the lottery headquarters in Raleigh by 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
