Senior goalkeeper Taylor Primack stopped nine UNC Pembroke shots to help preserve a 1-1 draw for her Barton College women’s soccer team in a match Wednesday evening, Oct. 2, at Truist Stadium.
The draw evened the Bulldogs’ record in NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas matches to 1-1-1 while exiting 4-2-2 overall, the same as the Braves, who remain in first place at 3-0-2 in conference outings.
Bulldogs graduate student Lexis Goldberg scored in the 72nd minute for the equalizer after the Braves broke the ice in the 61st. Junior forward Jenessa Gray and senior defender Felician Svenson each got an assist in Barton’s goal.
Primack’s only blemish came when UNCP’s Anna Grossheim sent a free kick that made its way into the net. The Braves rattled off 24 shots to just 10 by Barton.
The Bulldogs will host Mount Olive on Wednesday, Oct. 9.

Barton, now 5-1, lost its last game against Francis Marion on Sept. 25, got going on Lopes’ PK goal in the 11th minute. He scored again in the half then passed out assists to senior midfielder Gio Vences and sophomore defender Kai Thurston in the second half.
Barton placed 15 shots on goal to just two by VSU.
Barton’s game at Lees-McRae in Banner Elk, which was in the path of the hurricane, has been postponed. The Bulldogs will host Mount Olive in a rivalry match Tuesday, Oct. 8.
