While there were undoubtedly more opportunities to score left behind by the Beddingfield High boys soccer team Monday, Oct. 7, the Bruins aren’t complaining about their 5-1 win at home over Eastern Wayne.

Senior Christopher Rodriguez Aguilera scored two goals and made an assist while freshman Tiyler Ramon notched a pair of goals for the Bruins as they evened their 2-A Neuse 6 Conference record at 2-2 and climbed to 3-2 overall.
“We had many chances in the first half and attempted 23 shots — as opposed to Eastern Wayne’s five in the first half — but we didn’t finish as clinically as we normally do,” said Bruins head coach Mark Aldrich.

Aguilera assisted Ramon for the first goal in the 26th minute before scoring off a pass from center back Tristan Nieves-Valdez for a 2-0 lead that stood until the 57th minute. Eastern Wayne (0-10, 0-3 Neuse 6) scored on a rebound.

Nieves-Valdez drilled a penalty kick in the second half, sandwiched between goals by Ramon and Aguilera. Alidael Gutierrez had the assist on Aguilera’s final goal.

Bruins keeper Cristian Felipe Valdez tallied six saves.

“We had some things we were working on, and it was good to see the guys trying to implement our game plan,” Aldrich said. “Everyone got in the game and contributed.”
