ROCKY MOUNT — While the North Carolina Christian School Association 2-A East Region matches are undoubtedly less taxing in many instances than the brutal nonconference schedule assembled for the Wilson Christian varsity volleyball team, the Lady Chargers aren’t going to take any of them for granted.
Wilson Christian picked up just its fourth victory of the season, all against region foes, with a 25-5, 25-17, 25-12 verdict at New Life Christian. The Lady Chargers, now 4-12 overall, evened their region slate at 4-4 heading into the home stretch of the season.
Senior Melia Hughes served five aces while passing out 13 assists. Katherine Joyner hammered five kills while Emily Moore posted four kills. Logan Ballance chipped in eight assists to go with two aces. Maddie Reynell and Lilly Hoskins each served two aces while Hoskins added a kill and an assist.
Reagan Sherrod put up two kills and an assist while Emily Miles and Trinity Campbell each landed an ace.
The Lady Chargers will visit Wilmington Christian on Thursday.

Lady Chargers blow past New Life
ROCKY MOUNT — Wilson Christian made quick work of host New Life Christian to sweep Tuesday’s volleyball match 25-3, 25-9.
Brylan Harris served seven aces for the Lady Chargers, who pujshed their record to 15-2 overall and 8-1 against region opponents. Allie Miller and Makayla Reason each served five aces while Reagan Sherrod produced four aces and two kills. Jada Purdy added two kills for WCA, which will play at Wilmington Christian on Thursday.
