Bryan Clenon Barnes, 63, of Lucama, died Thursday, August 8, 2024.

A graveside service was held Wednesday at Maplewood Cemetery.

Bryan was a beloved father, brother, son and friend to many in the local community. He was known for his generosity, kindness, and willingness to give to others in need. Bryan was born in Wilson, N.C. and grew up in Virginia Beach, V.A. and Rocky Mount, N.C. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BS in Pharmacy in 1984. He worked as a pharmacist in Wilson before returning to his true passion; working the land through landscaping and farming. He settled at his mother's childhood home on the family farm where he enjoyed growing produce and met many individuals in the community selling and donating his harvest, most notably corn, blueberries, butterbeans and blackberries. He loved bringing people together through gatherings at the farm and made numerous friendships and lasting connections in the community.

He is survived by his son, Andrew Barnes (Faire) of New Orleans, L.A.; daughter, Sydney Barnes of Wilmington, N.C.; grandson, Scott Andrew Barnes; mother, Ramona Lamm Barnes of Rocky Mount; sisters, Cathy Pirko (Charles) of Lancaster, PA, Pam Umberger of Wilson; nieces and nephews, Jamie, Alexandra, Holden, Whitney, Casey, Ellen, Michael, Sarah, Camille; great-niece and great-nephew, Addison and Paxton Sink.

He was preceded in death by his father Clifton O. "Shine" Barnes.
