The GRC marching band provides a strong presence, adding to the ambiance surrounding George Rogers Clark High School athletic contests and other events.

With the school year approaching, an opportunity to provide support looms again.

On behalf of the Clark County band booster, the GRC marching band is looking toward civic and business leaders to participate in sponsoring the GRC marching band, which has been a state finalist for each of the past three seasons.

The GRC marching band currently has over 125 students working to accomplish their musical goals and keep alive the tradition of the local marching band, which has gained recognition outside of Clark County.

Although the Clark County Board of Education supports band programs in Clark County for needs such as instruments and transportation, it does not cover all costs.

A large portion of the band’s budget comes from sponsorship and fundraising.

Specifically, $27,000 goes toward uniforms, $60,000 toward marching band staff, $15,000 toward semi and box trucks for competition traveling, $20,000 for sectionals and one-on-one lessons, $7,500 for color guard flag equipment, $15,000 for field displays for competitions, and $8,000 for instrument maintenance.

Providing a quality music education comes with a financial cost.

Thus, a generous donation shows support matters, as it will help fund the cost of running a successful program.

There are different levels of sponsorship.

Partners/in-kind donations and services are available for those who would like to donate food, supplies, etc., to the band program and will have sponsors recognized on the group’s website and Facebook page.

A bronze-level $100 donation will showcase a business name on the parent marching band show shirts.

In addition, a silver level $200 donation allows a business name to be printed in concert programs, which take place 3-4 times during the school year, and the name to be published on the band website along with a Facebook page featuring a link to a business page.

In addition, a gold-level $500 donation allows for a business name on the band’s semi-trailer, business recognition on the JUMBOTRON at each home football game prior to the band’s performance, and 2’x2’ signage on the band tower located in the student/event parking lot.

A platinum-level $1,000 donation provides much of what’s previously stated, though a 4’x4; signage on the band tower located in the student/event parking lot; verbal recognition at each football game; verbal recognition at each band concert; and a business logo printed in color on the band’s semi-trailer.
