Since being hired as executive director of Legacy Greenscapes in 2020, Deborah Jackson has been a well-known and appreciated presence throughout Clark County whether at the Legacy Nights Concert Series or other events,

Now, Jackson – who also formerly worked for Winchester-Clark County Parks and Recreation – is seeking a new role.

In an email, Jackson – who led the non-profit Legacy Greenscapes when it was named Nonprofit of the Year at 2023’s Winchester-Clark County Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Banquet – announced her resignation.

“After much consideration, I have made the difficult decision to resign from my position as Executive Director, effective August 27th, 2024,” she wrote. “This decision was not easy, but it was the best step for the organization and my family.”

Jackson – who was recognized by Winchester Mayor JoEllen Reed with a proclamation of honor at the Legacy Nights Concert Series event on Tuesday, Aug. 13 – demonstrated gratitude for the support of others during her time in the position.

“I am incredibly grateful for your trust and support over the years,” she added. “Your commitment to partnering with Legacy Greenscapes has been instrumental in building our organization from the ground up and achieving our mission. Together, we have made a significant impact on our community! THANK YOU!”

Regarding the short term, Jackson added that she seeks to make the process easier for her replacement.

“In the coming weeks, I will work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure a smooth transition. We are committed to continuing the great work we have started and maintaining the momentum we have built,” she added. “You can plan to see more of the programs and events you love, all within the beautiful boundaries of our clean, beautiful Legacy Grove Park. I hope you will continue to partner with Legacy Greenscapes for years to come.”

Jackson finished her words to readers, whom she expressed “heartfelt appreciation” towards, by stating, “Thank you for being an essential part of my journey. Your ongoing support and dedication mean the world to me and Legacy Greenscapes.”
