    Bandon girls advance to semifinals in Pendleton

    PENDLETON — Bandon’s girls overcame a slow start to beat Oakridge 34-23 in the Class 2A quarterfinals at the Pendleton Convention Center on Thursday.

    The Tigers face Regis in the semifinals Friday night. The Rams edged Stanfield 46-39 in overtime.

    On the other side of the bracket, top-ranked Westside Christian beat Enterprize 57-29 and Knappa topped Nesutcca 46-39.

    Bandon trailed Oakridge 12-8 at halftime as both teams struggled mightily shooting the ball. The Tigers outscored the Warriors 26-11 in the second half to pull away.

    Both Bandon and Oakridge finished 1-for-19 from 3-point range. Overall, Bandon was slightly better (14-for-58 to 8-for-47).

    Makenna Vierck had 11 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Tigers. Katelyn Senn had 10 points and eight boards and Olivia Thompson had nine points.

    Sadie Snyder had 11 points and Jade Snyder had seven points and 16 rebounds for Oakridge, which faces Stanfield in the consolation semifinals.

    Bandon was No. 2 in the power rankings and No. 1 in the final coaches poll for Class 2A.
