Cloudy skies did not deter crowds last Saturday, August 3rd from enjoying the Coquille Fire & Rescue Steak Feed & Car Show.

Located at Sturdivant Park in Coquille, the yearly event uses all proceeds to benefit the Coquille Fire & Rescue. These funds help purchase supplies and equipment that is needed for the local volunteers that serve the community.

Crowds wandered through the park admiring the rows upon rows of classic cars, trucks and unusual vehicles including a “Barbie” Consulier GTP, a 1967 hearse and even a 1923 T bucket that had the crowd admiring its yellow color.

Many of the owners of these colorful vehicles were a part of the local County Curry Cruisers. The car club was “formed to preserve, promote and encourage the enjoyment of all special interest automobiles,” and visits shows up and down the coast during the summer months supporting local fundraising efforts.

The car show ran from 9am to 3pm with the steak feed beginning at noon. Visitors to the show could purchase a steak dinner for $35 or a hot dog dinner for $15. While enjoying their meal crowds were entertained by music or could participate in a silent auction. It was a successful day filled with cars, food and community.
