Contractors plan to apply permanent striping along U.S. 101 through Port Orford on Sunday and Monday nights, June 30 and July 1, as construction on a state highway paving project nears completion. Woman sentenced to 75 months in prison after Manslaughter II guilty plea
On June 25th, 2024, Alyssa R. Nelson (33) pleaded guilty in Coos County Circuit Court to Manslaughter II (A measure 11 Crime). The charge is in connection with the shooting death of Ian P. Cowan in February 2024, which occurred in Charleston, Oregon. District Attorney Paul R. Frasier represented the State of Oregon in this matter. Alyssa R. Nelson was sentenced to (75) months in prison and (36) months post-prison supervision. “Police action is not indicative of guilt. Update: Wastewater Treatment Plant Pile Driving Activity
The City is currently upgrading the wastewater treatment plant located at 680 Ivy Avenue. The upgrade will include a new secondary clarifier and chlorine contact chamber. Both of these structures will need to be on piling. In total approximately 280 piles will be installed. Yesterday, the contractor started driving the piles.
