Eastside Boat Ramp is open
On February 18th the floats and piles at the Eastside Boat Ramp were damaged. After several months of coordinating with multiple agencies and working with the Oregon State Marine Board the City was able to repair the floats and replace the piles. On Sunday, August 25th the Boat Ramp was reopened and just in time for the fall Salmon season. Any questions can be directed to the Public Works Department at 541-269-8918.

6th annual stuffed animal sleepover at the North Bend Public Library
The North Bend Library will hold our 6th annual “Stuffed Animal Sleepover” on Friday, September 6 at 4:00 PM. The sleepover will begin with a Storytime for children, their families, and their stuffed animal or toy. After Storytime, children can leave their stuffed animal at the library. Then, families can follow the fun on Facebook @NorthBendPublicLibraryOregon to see what silly things their stuffed animal does during their sleepover. South Coast Striders: Hike Bandon’s History
On Sunday, August 25, archaeologist and historian, Reg Pullen will lead a three-mile walking tour of Bandon, including Old Town and the beach near the South Jetty. Pullen will share all the local lore and colorful history of Bandon while touring various historical points of interest. Starting at the Museum, you’ll tour the waterfront and Old Town before heading to the beach. From the beach you can choose to walk down the beach on your own or return to town via the Jetty Road. The total hike is 3 miles, rated moderate, with some sand walking involved and should last 2.5 to 3 hours. You can shorten the walk by leaving it before the trip to the beach. After the hike you may want to visit the Bandon Historical Society Museum. Because this is on a Sunday, admission will be FREE, thanks to the “Free Summer Sundays” program sponsored by First Interstate Bank and Best Western Inn at Face Rock.

Closure of the Eastside Boat Ramp
The City of Coos Bay has contracted with Lagacy Contracting, Inc. to make the repairs to the Eastside Boat Ramp. Work will begin on August 23, 2024. During this time the Eastside Boat Launch Facility will be closed at Whitty St., with no public access, while the contractor is making repairs. This closure will expedite the reopening of the facility and give the contractor uninterrupted movement throughout the facility. It is estimated that the repairs will take up to 7-10 days to complete. The work will include the removal of the two damaged remaining piles and installation of three new 12” piles and setting the repaired floats back into the water. We understand that this facility is important to the community and these repairs are necessary to the reopening of the boat ramp.
