(Alabama)- On today, July 19, 2023, new information about Carlee Russell was released after getting attention from the community, the state of Alabama, and the nation. With the amount of pressure the public has added to the incident, more information has finally been given on the incident that occurred in Alabama.

Have you been able to view the press conference video giving details about Carlee's side of the incident that occurred in Alabama?

During the press conference, Chief Nick Derzis (Hoover) told the public what Carlee said happened to her over the weekend.

Have you been able to watch the video of Carlee's side of the incident?

    Carlee's Story to Police

Carlee told investigators that after she got out of her car, a man came out of the trees and told her he was checking on the child. He then picked her up, made her go over a fence, and forced her into a car.

The man's description she gave to police: orange hair with a big bald spot in the back of his head.

She soon realized that she was in the trailer of an 18-wheeler, and a woman involved too. She never saw the woman's face, but heard the woman's voice along with a child.

She was able to escape the 18-wheeler but was recaptured. After being recaptured, she was blindfolded but not bound because the kidnappers didn't want to leave any impressions on her wrist. They took her to a home, and she believes they took pictures of her against her will.

The next day, the woman fed her cheese crackers and played with her hair. This was all she could give the police about the woman.

At some point, she was put into a car and escaped to safety after running through the woods. Investigators did notate that she had a small cut on her lip, was clothed in a ripped shirt, and had $170 cash in her right sock.

    Analyzing Carlee's Phone Data

One part of the investigation dealt with Carlee's phone being analyzed. Below are things she searched for on her phone before the incident happened., according to the press conference.

    • July 11th at 7:30 am: "Do you have to pay for an Amber Alert Search".
    • July 13th at 1:03 am: "How to take money from a cash register without getting caught".
    • July 13th at 2:13 am: "BHM bus station".
    • July 13th at 2:35 am: "One-way bus ticket from BHM to NSHVILE".
    • July 13th at 12:10 pm: information about the movie "Taken".

While at her job, she researched more information about Ambert Alerts and the minimum age someone has to be to qualify for an Amber Alert to be issued. Police also found more information on her phone dealing with her "mindset", but the Chief declined to give this information out of respect for Carlee.

Thus far, police have requested to interview Carlee again but she has declined to be interviewed again.

The Chief concluded by stating that there are still many questions they have that only Carlee can answer; however, police can verify that they have not been able to verify Carlee's initial 911 call, and there isn't a threat to the community related to the call.

The cameras confirm there was no child. They show her vehicle traveling a ways on the side of road, but why doesn't it show where she went, how she left? Also, aren't neighbors looking at their cameras to see how she got back? I would look if it was me.
