(Alabama)- According to the Made in Alabama WARN List, Linamar Structures USA is preparing to close its doors within the coming months. This closure marks the end of an era for the manufacturing industry in the region, impacting not just the local economy but also the lives of employees and their families.

    What Exactly is Linamar Structures?

Linamar Structures USA, part of the Linamar Corporation, has been a leading manufacturer of precision components and systems for the automotive industry. Known for its commitment to innovation and quality, Linamar has played a significant role in shaping the automotive manufacturing landscape globally.

Linamar in Hartselle has been a vital contributor to Alabama's industrial sector. The facility has employed skilled workers who have contributed to the production of high-quality components that meet standards of performance and safety.

    Impact of Closure

The decision to close Linamar comes amidst changing market dynamics and strategic considerations within the automotive industry. While the closure is a business decision aimed at ensuring long-term sustainability for Linamar Corporation, it also means the displacement of approximately 152 employees who have been integral to the company's operations in Hartselle.

The company plans to close its doors on August 18, 2024.

In May 2024, Linamar reported that sales surged 18.7% to $2.72 billion in Q1 2024. During the webcast call, the company also announced that it "maintained its dividend to shareholders at quarterly $0.25 per share."

So seeing the writing on the wall, I took a more proactive approach. I jumped ship today and took a new job working for the VA! Took a cut in pay, but at this point I'm not driven by money alone. Happy to be leaving the automotive industry!
