(Alabama)- M Live News reported to Alabama Motown fans that the original Four Tops last surviving member, Abdul “Duke” Fakir, has passed. Adbul was 88 and passed due to heart failure in the comfort of his home with his wife and family by his side on July 22.

"Duke was first tenor — smooth, suave, and always sharp. For 70 years, he kept the Four Tops’ remarkable legacy intact," said Motown Founder Berry Gordy.

Abdul left a legacy for his fans in Alabama to remember

For many years, the original Four Tops gave Alabama fans hit songs to listen to at home or while on the road such as "Ain't No Woman (Like the One I've Got)," "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)," and "Just Ask the Lonely."

In 2009, Abdul received a Lifetime Achievement Award during the 51st Grammy Awards, and Alabama Public Radio reported "Fakir had been working on a planned Broadway musical based on their lives (The Four Tops) and completed the memoir “I’ll Be There,” published in 2022."

Thus far funeral arrangements have not been announced to the public.
