Past and Present Problems For Pastor Matthews
In 2022, it was reported by Action 5 News that Pastor Matthews voluntarily surrendered to the authorities in Tennessee after he was charged with two counts of harassment, as well as for violating an order of protection and showing contempt of court for violating that order. The order was issued by a judge concerning a past partner of Pastor Matthews from nine years ago, at the time.
Fast forward to August 2024, Pastor Mathews is once again in the spotlight and this time it is due to his current wife of nine years, Melanie Matthews, exposing details about their marriage with a divorce possibly in the works.
In a video posted by the Official King Jives Show, Melanie went on Instagram Live alleging Pastor Matthews is currently dealing with health problems, committed infidelity towards her, and has sexual identity problems.
" I came home, and I packed my sh*t," said Melanie. "I told you I was gone because I don't have time for that bullsh*t and you married me under false pretenses. You said you loved me and you don't know if you want a woman or a man," she continued.
Melanie further stated that Pastor Matthews could have discussed any concerns with her directly, indicating that she would have been willing to consider establishing a mutually agreed upon arrangement resembling an open marriage. However, he failed to converse with her about anything.
"You're selfish. That's what you are," said Melanie.
Alabamians and others who were tuned in at the time of the live advised Melanie to be careful so she wouldn't get sued for defamation. In return, she responded that she could not be sued because she has screenshots of everything in her phone.
The Pastor's Response
After Melanie's live video went viral online, Pastor Matthews first responded to her video with a song he wrote for Melanie and played it at the beginning of one of his YouTube videos. He began the song with an intro statement and said, " If I had made the right decisions, we wouldn't be in this predicament to deal with. So I just called to say I need you, I want you, and I miss you, baby." Days later, he went on YouTube to let his followers know he was focusing on his health, wealth, and happiness from that day forward.
